MJHS Health System, a premier not-for-profit health care organization that was founded by the Four Brooklyn Ladies in 1907, will return as Presenting Sponsor of the Brooklyn Walk to End Alzheimer\u2019s\u00ae<\/sup> for the second year in a row. MJHS staff will join the walk to champion the not-for-profit\u2019s legacy of caring for, supporting and guiding individuals with the disease, as well as their family caregivers, while honoring their personal experiences being impacted by the disease.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Brooklyn Walk to End Alzheimer\u2019s will be held on October 27, 2024. On \u201cWalk Day\u201d, participants honor those affected by Alzheimer\u2019s with the poignant Promise Garden ceremony \u2014 a mission-focused experience that signifies our solidarity in the fight against the disease. The colors of the Promise Garden flowers represent people\u2019s connection to Alzheimer\u2019s \u2014 their personal reasons for ending the disease.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sadly, the number of people living with Alzheimer\u2019s disease is growing in New York, according to data from the Alzheimer\u2019s Association, adding new urgency to finding more resources, treatments and cures. Now, 426,500 New Yorkers aged 65 and older have Alzheimer\u2019s with 543,000 family members and friends helping provide their care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

MJHS is a leader in Alzheimer\u2019s care. Led by renowned researcher and board-certified music therapist Kendra Ray, PhD<\/a>, MJHS Menorah Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing Care<\/a>\u2019s dementia care program is routinely recognized for its innovative programming. MJHS also has an extensive, free\u00a0Caregiver Resource Guide<\/a>\u00a0as well as an easy-to-navigate online library where everyone can find answers to common questions, along with useful tips on how to be an effective caregiver while practicing self-care.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
