Spiritual Support
Provides a source of comfort, guidance, and companionship as you navigate this time together, if and when you choose it.
Spiritual Support for All Faiths and Beliefs
Your values, your faith, and your spiritual beliefs are your own — and they are respected here, whatever they may be. We know from experience that many people find comfort in spiritual support when facing a serious or life-limiting illness, which is why pastoral care is available to any patient or family who wishes to receive it as part of our hospice and palliative care services.
Our spiritual care team includes clergy of various faiths and religions — priests, rabbis, ministers, imams, pastors, and chaplains of other denominations. While we can usually provide a spiritual advisor of your own faith, all members of our pastoral team are able to support patients and families of any background.
Your spiritual care advisor is a core member of your hospice care team — present from the beginning of your care, not just called upon in a moment of crisis. Your dedicated chaplain will make home visits and offer telephone support, and is available off-hours should the need arise.
Whether or not you follow a particular faith, a spiritual care visit can include:
- Sitting with you or your loved one in quiet companionship
- Listening without judgment to fears, regrets, or hopes
- Facilitating meaningful conversations between patients and family members
- Supporting family members with their own grief and spiritual questions
- Coordinating with clergy from your own community if you prefer
