MJHS Menorah Center Resident Poem Featured on NYC’s Flagship Public Radio Station
Ms. Mary Alice’s poem, created with the support of the therapeutic recreation team, was selected to air on WNYC as part of its beloved National Poetry Month series
Every April, in celebration of National Poetry Month, NYC’s flagship public radio station WNYC invites listeners to submit original work. This year, the therapeutic recreation team at MJHS Menorah Center answered the call by supporting resident Ms. Mary Alice in submitting a poem as part of programming that fosters creativity and self-expression.
We’re thrilled to share that Ms. Mary Alice’s poem was selected, and a recording of her reading her poem aired live on the radio. In her poem, Ms. Mary Alice shares her unique perspective of this year’s theme, “good neighbors,” writing about what acceptance feels like when you move into a new neighborhood. In her case, it was a nursing home.
